On this page we have included a variety of puzzle games based on inquiry and discovery ( to help children sharpen their reasoning and deduction skills ). Some puzzles are about recognizing patterns and creating a particular order to keep the youngsters thinking and their brains growing.
Childrens Games: A brief history
Children's games have been around for centuries , research has shown that the toddler's brain is a wondrous , vital and thriving organism.
Children are naturally inquisitive, ( take my three -year old daughter for example ), her current favorite game is something I like to call 'repeat-after-me' , any word or phrase in our house is fair game to be repeated faithfully and endlessly by this amazing child, sometimes in sing-song fashion.
Anyway let me get to the point, while doing research for this topic on Children's Games, those games from a century ago were primarily rhyming games like " Little Bo peep has lost sheep and doesn't know where to find them......" or "Ring around the rosy pocket full of posy", even though nonsensical games, they serve a purpose, to teach the children language by imitation.
Memory, language, association of ideas, concentration, constructiveness, deductive and inductive reasoning, these are the principles we employ, in 'playing' childrens games. In this respect 'play' is really a misleading word, it could quite possibly be replaced by the word 'practice' or 'practical associative learning'.
Again referring to the nursery rhyme , lets use this example :
"Twinkle , twinkle little star"
"How I wonder what you are"
Up above the world so high"
Like a diamond in the sky"
A great chance to ask associative questions , such as, what color is the sky? When can you see stars?
While still, Other familiar childrens games like : Ball , Cops and robbers , Dodge ball , Duck - duck, goose - goose, Follow the Leader, Hide-and-seek, Hangman, Hopscotch, Jacks , Jump rope , Keep Away , Kickball , Kick the can , Leapfrog , Mother May I? , Musical chairs , Pin the Tail on the Donkey , Red light, green light , Rock paper scissors , Seven Up , Simon Says , Tag, and Tic-Tac-Toe , all serve a purpose to not only develop co-ordination and attention, but also manners , morals , self-control , and many more desirable qualities the children need in the growing of their community.
In the course of this century these games have taken a gigantic leap forward as the games have expanded as has our learning, knowledge and culture, the world is a diverse environment.
In closing, I can't emphasize enough the importance of these games in teaching our children, it simply cannot be over-looked. So with this in my mind we have added the following groups of games for our children to play including, mazes, anagrams, word searches, hidden objects and assorted miscellaneous games. As always it is our hope that the children not only have fun, but grow those little brains as well.
Though anyone of any age is welcome to participate we have designed these games with the pre-teen in mind (from ages 8 to 12).Our Childrens Games below are divided into two sections :

This is a word-building game, the object is to form new words from the given words ( by changing one letter at a time ). As an example suppose you are given the word : C - A - T . By changing the first letter from a 'C' to a 'B' a new word is formed : B - A - T.
Down the Ladder1
RULES: To solve an old adage, start with the words in the top columns and change one letter as you go down the ladder. The green boxes show which letter to change. Letters do not change position with any move. The mystery words at the bottom of the ladder (highlighted in yellow, when unscrambled will form a well-known saying along with “AN”.
